When Chris came to LOCZIdesign, we sent him to Renee Naleppa, our Virtual Design specialist. His project was a dream come true for any interior designer — a brand new, blank slate. The recently purchased home was furnished with very little other than the bare necessities for this bachelor computer engineer. He had the basics, like a television, bean bag, fold-up chair and bed. But in his spacious San Francisco South Bay townhome, Chris wanted a place that was just as grown-up and warm as he.
He chose to go with our virtual design process due to his do-it yourself approach to life. (speaking of do-it-your-self, during the house tour, Chris showed Renee and I his recent certificate for a patent accepted and approved by the U.S. Government). Even so, Chris couldn't help but mention that, "When I found myself installing an overhead light fixture that took about three hours — that was when I felt like it would've been nice to have hired designers." Chris further explained, "There's a huge sense of pride and accomplishment I feel when my friends compliment me on my place, because I know that I did almost everything on my own."
I should mention that he wasn't entirely alone through the process, which is something anyone who needs a second opinion or extra hands can appreciate. Renee was available every step of the way providing design knowledge, guidance and an artistic approach that expanded his style and vision."I'd call Renee a lot, keeping her updated on the packages I received — I got one almost everyday for a while — it was like Christmas for my house! But ultimately, it was nice to have the guidance and experience that Renee provided when it came to which items looked best in my house, which painters I should hire, or which furniture sale was taking place. She helped me expand on my taste, yet I still feel like everything represents me well."
And that's one of the best parts about choosing LOCZI's Virtual Design. We start by allowing you to pick the LOCZIdesign Style Guide that most appeals to you. From there, you send us your room measurements, and photos, and we’ll create a custom design for your space. This plan includes: a floor plan showing recommended furniture placement; furnishings, finishes, and color palette. We provide a shopping list for window treatments, light fixtures, furniture, accessories, and wall coverings (paint or wallpaper), as well as custom instructions for completing the look on your own.
Chris was kind enough to let us peek in every room to see how the real life project turned out. He even ran over his plans for the soiree he was planning for the upcoming weekend — to reveal his new and improved bachelor pad to his friends and family, of course! "My mother wasn't initially excited about all of the changes I was making, like painting the ceilings and wall all different colors, (it was mostly because she wanted to remodel and design the place herself) but when she saw it completed, I think was really impressed and happy for me."
"It was really a pleasure working with Chris," Renee added. "He was accepting to a lot of my ideas, which really made his house what it is today." And that's the main goal of virtual design, to give you counsel, while allowing you to be hands-on during the process. So, are you or a friend thinking about remodeling? And we all know, summertime is the perfect time to bring a breath of fresh air into your home. But if you're on the fence, check out the variety of options we offer, here. There's bound to be something you'll find that works best for your budget, personality and most importantly, your style. Maybe you'll be the next Chris featured here on our blog!
